PROJECT BRIEF - Create looks on a thematic exploration for celebrity/celebrities for any hypothetical event or occasion (met gala, benefit gala, award night, movie premiere or more based on a fashion era/ movement/ subculture from fashion history. Creating a fashion feature for any fashion magazine for the same.
CONCEPT NOTE - A significant South Indian empire, the Chola Dynasty was renowned for its opulent textiles & drapes, jewellery, and rich culture. By drawing ideas from this time period and connecting them to modern fashion, a styling approach that combines the luxury of the Chola Dynasty with modern forms and metallic components can be developed. The idea is to create new silhouettes by draping classic South Indian fabrics, such as Kanjeevaram sarees, in a contemporary manner. The addition of metallic corsets, bralettes with gold and silver thread work, zari, and elaborate embroidery to the sarees gives the ensemble a sense of modernity. The colour palette uses jewel tones like emerald green, ruby red, sapphire blue, and amethyst purple to provide a more coherent appearance. These hues are all reminiscent of the precious stones frequently used in Chola Dynasty jewellery. To give the garments a dazzling aspect, metallic components can also be used like sequins and beadwork. Overall, the stylistic idea based on Chola Dynasty draperies and jewellery combined with metallics and modern silhouettes is a great fusion of heritage and modernity. We are curating looks to style celebrities for a movie premiere.
